Casinos to Improve State Healt
One of four groups seeking the city's casino certify said its slots parlor would raise millions of dollars a year for at least a dozen community groups. Alco Parking owner Merrill Stabile said his casino would partner with local arts, economic expansion and community groups by giving them a percentage of the earnings based on how well the slots perform. The casino would locate on Stabile's parking lot near PNC Park.
North Shore Gaming's proposal appears to include the broadest community givebacks of any group seeking the license. Stabile said North Shore Gaming's projections are more traditional. The bidders have known more than a dozen local community groups that would directly benefit from the casino.
They include economic development groups, such as the North Side Chamber of Commerce; the arts community; groups that market the city to visitors and groups working on residential increase.
